Beginning January 1, 2022, California state law (Senate Bill 1383) requires all businesses and multifamily dwellings to recycle their organic waste. In order to be in compliance with this law, businesses and multifamily dwellings must subscribe to an organic waste recycling service provided by Recology Vacaville Solano.
Some businesses that produce limited organic waste may qualify for an exemption as a Small Quantity Generator. The thresholds for an exemption based upon total waste service volume:
- Businesses that have total waste services of less than or equal to 2 cubic yards and produce less than 10 gallons of organic waste per week; or
- Businesses that have total waste services of more than 2 cubic yards and produce less than 20 gallons of organic waste per week.
If you believe your business meets the exemption requirements above, please submit a Waste Assessment Form to the City of Vacaville – Solid Waste and Recycling Office.
